Aquatic Vegetation Management
John Findeisen
Team Leader
900 CR 218
Brookeland, Texas 75931

john.findeisen@tpwd.texas.gov

In an interview on YouTube, Mr. Findeisen appears to come across as an outspoken advocate FOR Hydrilla exclusively because of a temporary benefit for fishing. Seemingly ignoring the ecological, safety, and economic impacts hydrilla has caused across the state and the country. The position he has taken on this invasive and illegal aquatic plant seems break-takingly irresponsible and appears to be one of the core issues related to inaction on Canyon Lake. No different from a biologist advocating for invasive Zebra Mussels for water clarity benefit, Mr. Findeisen's comments on a fishing show demonstrative his lack of care, knowledge and respect for this serious issue on Canyon Lake. This article would appear to 'cast' doubt on the long-term benefit to fishermen.

Mr. Ireland has been known to personally inspect the hydrilla in Canyon Lake. He has represented to local residents that until hydrilla becomes a 'navigation issue' for boats, no action will will be taken. This despite the facts that 1) hydrilla will continue to spread in an uncontrolled manner and 2) it will cost more the longer it takes to start mitigation efforts.
In a recent article on MyCanyonLake.com Mr. Ireland makes no mention of Mr. Findeisen or Mr. Findeisen's opinions stated on YouTube. Mr. Findeisen has said that Mr. Ireland has the office next to his at the TXPW offices.
